According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), UV rays can damage the cornea, crystalline lens, and other delicate tissues. Over time, this exposure can increase your risk of developing cataracts and certain cancers around the eyelids.Strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., UV rays reflect off water, sand, pavement, and even grass. So, a trip to the beach, pool, or park can result in more UV exposure than you realize. And it&#8217;s important to note that you should never gaze directly at the sun no matter where you are, as this can burn your retina and cause irreversible damage.The sun gives off different types of UV rays.
