Now, more than 20 specialties offer it. The system still excludes some subspecialties \u2014 for those, you\u2019ll still need to schedule those visits over the phone. Online scheduling is for outpatient appointments only, not for procedures, imaging, or tests. The system makes it easy to see whether online scheduling is available for a given specialty, doctor, or appointment type.Bottom of FormHow to Schedule an Appointment Online with UPMC Children\u2019sThe web-based scheduling module is easy to use and gives parents more options to book their appointments. For example, patients are no longer limited to scheduling their appointments on the phone. Instead of needing to call during business hours, the online system is open 24\/7.The simplest way to schedule is to view the\u00a0list of specialties available\u00a0for online scheduling. Clicking on any specialty will land you on a page with a pre-filtered list of providers who accept online booking.There are multiple ways to sort the list of providers, including by their location and earliest available appointment. You can also filter by those who will do video visits.Once you click \u201cBook Appointment,\u201d you\u2019ll answer a few simple questions, including the reason for the visit. Then you\u2019ll see all the availability the provider has at various locations or for telemedicine visits.After you choose your slot, you\u2019ll fill out some demographic and insurance information. Then, if the specialty has further paperwork for patients to fill out before an appointment, they will email you.Schedule a specialist appointment\u00a0with UPMC Children\u2019s now.What Else to Know About Online Appointment SchedulingWhile online scheduling is still new, parents and young adults are embracing it. Customers scheduled more than 1,000 appointments at UPMC Children\u2019s in September using the platform.This new system upholds UPMC Children\u2019s promise that new patients can get a specialist appointment within five business days. The particular specialist you want may not always be available, but at least one specialist will have open slots.While there are efforts underway to open up online scheduling across UPMC, for now, it\u2019s only available at UPMC Children\u2019s Hospital. It\u2019s also only available through the UPMC provider search. Unfortunately, this means you can\u2019t schedule through MyCHP, which is the patient portal you use to view your child\u2019s medical record.You can use the new\u00a0UPMC Children\u2019s app\u00a0to start the process. Tap the \u201cMake Appt\u201d tile at the top of the app, and you will be brought to the first step of the process \u2014 picking the subspecialty you need. Then, continue through the scheduling process like normal.Online Scheduling Also Available with UPMC PediatriciansUPMC Children\u2019s Community Pediatrics also offers online scheduling.
